the millionaire backpacker is back!!! well not exactly. all my hip hop heads out there know skillz hasn't gone anywhere. whether its guest appearances on the underground mixtapes or on his annual "rap up" freestyles (2007 coming soon) he's been keeping heads noddin' for over 10 years. however it does look like skillz may be making another above ground voyage. check out his new (or at least new to me) video "don't act like you don't know" ft. freeway. shout out to va's hottest dj - dj green - for putting me on.

a funky space reincarnation
in case you didn't know...i'm a muthafunkin' i-crate digga. thanks to the internet i can find any song even if given just a snippet. the other day i was watching something tv and up pops a dior commercial featuring charlize theron. now i could give a damn about dior or charlize but the background song caught my attention. it was brief but damn funky...and it sounded like marvin gaye. intrigued i did some research and discovered that my hunch was correct. it indeed was mr. marvin gaye and the name of the song is a funky space reincarnation (knowing what we now know about marvin, its pretty obvious what substance inspired the title of the song). anywho, marvin gets funky on this joint. check it out.

vikter duplaix
mr. duplaix has been in the game for a minute and i love his work. i recently saw his latest video "make a baby" on betj. i must say i'm not typically a fan of the "half on a baby" tracks but this one is pretty damn smooth. the production on this joint is crazy. check out the vid below. also for those of you out on the west coast you should check out vikter's event "kiss n grind". not only is my man a grammy award winning musical artist and writer (nominated f0r '08), he's also a dope ass dj and promoter. i believe the next installment of "kiss n grind" goes down new year's eve. check vikter's myspace for more info.
